Inform Africa held its first board meeting on Saturday April 30, 2022. The meeting was opened with a welcome speech by the Executive Director Abel Wabella.
The Program Manager Frehiwot Sintayehu then continued with an introduction of the whole team and employees working in the organization. A brief update on the status of completed and continuing projects, including research and the Arif Negari media literacy campaign, was provided.
In addition to other projects, HaqCheck’s lead fact-checker, Rehobot Ayalew gave a presentation about the journey, challenges and success stories of HaqCheck.Various questions and views about the initiative’s future prospects were also discussed.
The board was also briefed about the organization’s financial and operational status.
Following the briefings, the board reviewed areas for improvement, future plans, and the organization’s next moves. “The work Inform Africa and all the initiatives and projects under the organization are doing is amazing and truly appreciated,” said Board Director Mekedela Mekuria. “However, this should just be the beginning, and you should aspire to do more.” During his concluding speech, he stated that we also have to consider the organization’s sustainability and legacy in all that we do.
