Inform Africa is a hub for digital rights technology, media research and development. Inform Africa is a broad-led, for-non-profit organization that has been registered and accorded legal personality with a registry number 5520 on March 23, 2021, as a local organization under the Ethiopia Civil Society Organizations Proclamation 1113/2019 by FDRE Authority for Civil society Organizations. 13/2019.
Inform Africa is working in the field of fact-checking, digital rights, media literacy, media training, media research, and media technology development and support working hand in hand with Addis Zeybe and other local media houses in Ethiopia by creating a local media technology development and research hub.
Job Brief
Our growing publication is searching for an experienced Program Officer to join our creative team. Your ultimate goal will be to oversee program development, seek grants
and proposals, oversee budgets, and manage projects. You will perform a range of tasks including, providing reports and critical analysis of field reports, provide accurate information and technical assistance as needed.
As the program officer, you will ensure the organization’s activities and programs align with a foundation or nonprofit’s goals and mission statement. To excel in this position, the successful candidate will also possess excellent communication, editing, and proofreading skills.
Responsibilities
● Represent company brands in industry conferences, meetings and workshops. ● Manage and monitor grants and prepare funding reports.
● Provide support and backstopping for assigned programs, ensuring all program objectives and goals are met in compliance with donor regulations.
● Track project deliverables and financial targets.
● Analyze work plans against project deliverables.
● Provide guidance and maintain frequent communications with program partners. ● Analyze and troubleshoot program challenges.
● Develop best practices to improve overall program performance.
● Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities for programs. ● Identify and contact new program partners for business expansion. ● Plan and execute program activities in a timely and accurate manner. ● Conduct program reviews and prepare reports for management.
● Prepare meeting agenda, organize meetings and distribute minutes. ● Working closely with other managers, vendors, and financial supporters, they develop, maintain, and ensure adherence to budgets, including reviewing and executing grant proposals.
● Research and authenticate facts, dates, and statistics.
● Coordinate with designers, photographers, writers, and artists.
● Proofread and edit proposals, articles, letters, or presentations.
● Write varied and interesting proposals that are good for both domestic and foreign audiences.
● Setting expectations and establishing processes that lead to team success.
Required Education and Experience
● Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in related area
● Proven experience as a senior editor or in a similar role
● Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
● A creative thinker with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. ● Proven experience with MS Office and project tools
● Outstanding leadership and organization skill
● Experience in managing a team
