We consume media content from social to mainstream media on 7/24. These crafted messages are shaping our lifestyle and our worldview toward everything. Identifying media outlets and understanding their messages is becoming very important, especially in this digital age, besides reading and writing skills. The relevance of media literacy and the dangers of its absence has been a topic of discussion among different stakeholders beyond intellectual curiosity.
To address this issue Inform Africa, a local media development organization in Ethiopia, in collaboration with IMS, is training social media influencers in the basics of media and information literacy. The program participants are expected to comprehend the skills and reflect on them when they create media content and be ambassadors of the concepts to address society at large.
